TV programmes showing how people of all ages moved abroad to take on a new way of life influenced Keith and Rhae Elliott in their decision to do something similar. Keith was retirement age and he wanted a new challenge. He wanted the excitement and adventure of moving to a new country and trying out a different way of life. Together they searched the internet and magazines to find out the cost of properties. They read countless books and internet articles written by people who had already made the move to France. They needed to find out the necessary steps that should be taken to move to Europe. They researched information on the legal aspects of purchasing a property, health care, taxation, importing a vehicle and moving themselves lock stock and barrel to Central France. After several worrying setbacks they eventually setlted into life in rural Limousin. They were constantly amazed by the beautiful countryside as it changed with each season. Soon they learned to slow down and live life the French way. They eagerly participated in fetes, visited brocantes and attended the rural French markets. They visited local bars and restaurants eagerly trying the wonderful Limousin dishes and making many friends along the way.
