First House that Rhae and Keith almost purchased in South Western France

Rhae & Keith almost bought this house and adjoining land. It was a beautiful property set in 23 acres of meadow and woodland with a trout stream running along the boundary of the meadow. Although only partly renovated it presented the potential to make lovely home and create a splendid business opportunity.

They negotiated a price with the vendors and got as far as visiting the Maire to complete the purchase. However, the Maire, an officious caricature of Napoleon, took his duties very seriously and investigated all the documentation and every element of sale and purchase in very fine detail. Finally, he asked the vendor to confirm that the buildings and land had been inspected for the presence of termites and that a certificate to guarantee that there was no termite infestation had been issued. Unfortunately this could not be provided and the Maire would not allow the sale to go ahead.
