After watching many television programmes extolling the financial and personal rewards of moving to rural France, retirement in France seemed the ideal thing to do. Rhae Elliott and her husband, Keith decided to leave the security of their home and friends in England and start looking for a place to buy in France. After viewing many properties throughout France Rhae and Keith were taken to Fontvieille a small hamlet near La Souterraine in Central France. Here they fell in love with this beautiful stone farmhouse overlooking the rolling Limousin countryside.

The wonderful views from the terrace and the spacious rooms with huge oak beams epitomised everything they expected from the property where they would start their new life in France. It was love at first sight and they made an instant decision to purchase the property. Here they would set about learning the language, getting to know the locals and generally settling in and coming to terms with life in France.

This book is Rhae's diary of their move to Central France and the steps they took to get health cover, renovate their property and integrate into the French rural community.
